Admissions Process

We accept applications for new students up to two (2) years in advance of attendance.

STEP 1: TOUR

Step 2: Application

Step 3: Registration

If you are interested in our school, please call the preschool at (415)924-3033 to set up a tour of our facility and meet with the director. This is the best way to discover if Kids on the Hill will meet your goals for a preschool experience well suited for your child.

To be considered for admission, after having been on a school tour, fill out a preschool application form, with a non-refundable $50.00 fee, and turn it in to our office.  The order in which the forms are received determines your place on our admission list.

In January we allow currently enrolled families to register their children for the next school year. New families are then invited to register according to their position on the admissions list. Upon admission, you will be given a parent packet to be completed and returned before your child begins school. A contract will be prepared for your family regarding the tuition responsibilities. You will receive a Parent Handbook.  Please read it carefully.  The contract you sign each year with the school is based on an understanding of the policies set forth in the Handbook.

All fees, including tuition, registration, special events, materials, fundraising start up and disaster pack, must be paid before your child starts school.

Tuition and Fees

Paying tuition is simple with our online billing and payment system. Tuition may be paid monthly, bi-annual or annually. Yearly non-refundable registration, special events, materials and fundraising fees are payable upon registration or re-registration.

Scheduling Options

Children in our youngest age groups years may enroll in a two day (Tu./Th.) or three day (M/W/F) option, based on availability.  Our older and Pre-K children attend four or five days and specific schedules are based on availability. Our core morning school program is 8:30-12:30.

Our Afternoon Enrichment programs may be added to your schedule to extend your child’s day to 2:45 or 3:45.  The afternoon program includes a rest time followed by a scheduled enrichment activity like cooking, games, crafts, movement and nature walks. In January we begin our special Pre-K Afternoon Language and Literacy Enrichment Program for children enrolled in our pre-k program who will be entering Kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten in the fall of that year.  These afternoons further enhance whole language skills, letter recognition, rhyming, initial sounds and phonemic awareness. Children experience teacher instruction and group participation in activities as they will encounter in elementary school. The class will be offered two afternoons a week (Tuesday and Wednesday) and continues to the end of May.

Re-Enrollment

Any parent wishing to enroll their child for the next school year must complete the re-registration form sent out in January.  Requested schedules are done on a first come first serve basis. The non-refundable fees must be included to secure your child’s space.

Registration of Siblings

Registration of a sibling is accepted two years prior to enrollment.  Siblings of currently enrolled or alumni up to 3 years past enrollment and Hillside Church members are given priority on our wait list and we make every effort to accommodate them; however space is based on availability.  Timely registration of siblings is encouraged as families are contacted in order of registration received.
